Sometimes I am asked what is the value added for having our national organization, the Jewish Federations of North America. 
One of the most clear and important examples is occurring right now, as JFNA works in partnership with our international partners in response to the fragile situation in the Ukraine. The Jewish Agency for Israel is providing funds to help to ensure the security of Jewish institutions in Crimea and Ukraine.  
The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee is providing funds in the midst of a horrible economic situation - for seniors and other at-risk populations.
As we point out in all of our messages to the community, it is because of your generous support of our annual campaign that the work of JAFI and the JDC make such a difference throughout the world. Our Federation works closely with JAFI, JDC and ORT on exciting and important projects in Israel and in other countries.
We are feeding seniors in the former Soviet Union.
We are supporting programs for youth at risk such as the Ben Yakir Youth Village in Hadera.
During times of less stress or during times of emergency such as what is taking place now in the Ukraine, it is because of you, and because of our national and international organizations, that the most vital services may be provided.
