JCA's Israel program

While proofreading the Jacksonville Jewish News for March, I was excited to see our new, vibrant logos displayed in the paper. I was equally impressed by the wonderful and important work carried out by our local and overseas recipient agencies. Featured on the front page of the March issue, we see the Jewish Community Alliance with an enhanced focus on Israeli programs. Additionally, the JCA will hold a Purim-themed Gala on March 1.

We also learn that Jewish Family & Community Services continues to touch the lives of so many members of our Jewish community. JFCS has an enhanced emphasis on providing services to those who might not be reached due to physical and mental challenges. JFCS will also hold their annual event on Thursday, March 6.

We also see that River Garden’s Anniversary Day Celebration will take place on Sunday, March 23. River Garden has received the Governor’s Gold Seal Award for what is an unprecedented fifth consecutive year.

Looking oversees; along with the entire Ukrainian population, 300,000 Jewish residents of the Ukraine have been touched by the volatile situation in their country. We know that in the midst of the chaos, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s emergency response network is ensuring that home food deliveries are continued and life-saving care is provided to the elderly. Further, the Jewish Agency for Israel has tapped its emergency assistance fund to bolster security.

We are in the middle of our 2014 annual campaign. It is as a result of your generous support of Federation that we are able to provide significant funding to all of the above Jewish agencies, as well as our two local day schools and the Jewish Community Foundation of Northeast Florida. It is an incredible relationship we share, and our family of donors makes this happen.

Shabbat Shalom.
