She has overseen the launch of a Community Security Initiative and a Jewish Community Relations Council, led record-breaking annual campaigns, and spearheaded an unprecedented $900,000 Israel Emergency Campaign. She also established a dedicated Israel & Overseas Department, staffed by a full-time professional, to oversee community missions, the Shaliach program, Partnership2Gether (P2G), and the Federation’s Israel & Overseas grantmaking efforts.

Prior to arriving in Jacksonville, Mariam served as President and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas. During her tenure the Dallas Federation provided distinguished service to the community leading it through three natural disasters – an F3 tornado which destroyed the Federation building, the global pandemic, and "snowmagedon," a freeze that paralyzed Texas which led it to be declared a State of Emergency.

Mariam firmly believes that no other organization matches the global impact of the Jewish Federation system. “Being part of the collective is empowering and inspiring,” she says. “I love Federation work and believe this is a calling, not a job.” Her passion for Israel is equally strong. On her first of more than 20 trips to Israel in 1973, the Yom Kippur War broke out—an experience that continues to fuel her deep commitment to Israel, its people, and its central importance to Jewish continuity.

A graduate of Dale Carnegie, Mariam became a certified coach and was a member of the first cohort of JFNA’s Fundraising University, as well as the third cohort of Leading Edge’s CEO Onboarding program. She holds a certificate in Board Governance from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Non-Profit Management and an Executive Certificate in Meeting Facilitation from Georgetown University.

Mariam resides in Jacksonville with her husband, Bob, and their two rescue dogs. She and her husband are the proud parents of two adult children, Jacob and Max, and recently welcomed a daughter-in-law into their family—all of whom live in Chicago.
