Israeli educators visit Jacksonville

This past December, Jacksonville hosted four educators from the Federation's Israel Partnership Region of Hadera-Eiron. While in northeast Florida, they taught and observed in local Jewish day schools including The Galinsky Academy and The Torah Academy of Jacksonville. In addition, they worked with religious school students at Congregation Ahavath Chesed (The Temple) as well as the Jacksonville Jewish Center.
Educators choose to participate in this experience in order to learn more about classroom education in schools in the United States. They came prepared to teach lessons about life in Israel including how Israelis will be celebrating Hanukah this year and are chosen for this delegation based on the desires of the teachers in our community, who wish to create classroom connections in Israel.  In addition, this year a specialist on Jewish Educational Professional Development was brought in.
Many thanks to the host families who welcomed these Educators into their homes.  The Federation's partnership with Hadera-Eiron enhances many facets of Jewish life in our community.  If you are interested in becoming involved or learning more about other Israel Partnership Programs, please contact Jill Abel at jilla@jewishjacksonville.org.
