Matt Franzblau began working at the Jewish Federation of Jacksonville as its communications director in April 2015. Franzblau came to the First Coast following a stint at Penn State where he handled communication duties for a trio of teams in the Nittany Lion athletic department. The Bridgewater, N.J. native also worked in communication roles at athletic departments across the country, including at Stetson in DeLand, Oregon State and Kansas. Before entering the world of college athletics, Franzblau was a television news reporter at WCIA-3 in Champaign, Ill., and WDTV-5 in Bridgeport, W.V.


In his current role, Franzblau oversees the monthly publication and production of the Jacksonville Jewish News and maintains the Federation's various social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. He is a 2005 graduate of West Virginia University, where he obtained his Bachelor's in Journalism (Broadcast News), and in 2011 received his Master's in Journalism (Strategic Communication) from the University of Kansas, where his Master's research project ( was aimed at branding Israel as a destination for business and entrepreneurship.


Aside from his responsibilities at Federation, Franzblau also dedicates some of his time as an adjunct instructor at the University of North Florida's Dept. of Communication. Follow him on Twitter @JJNmattf.
